How a roll of Dice works

Dice is the first of the Stake Originals, running since 2017. Each roll is instant and lands on a number from 0 to 100.

  1. Enter the bet amount.
  2. Drag the slider to set the target number.
  3. Choose Roll Over or Roll Under.
  4. Press Bet and read the result on the slider.

Roll Over wins when the result is above the target, Roll Under when it is below. The Profit on Win field shows the payout before the roll.

Multiplier, Roll Over and Win Chance

Three linked fields sit under the slider. Changing one updates the other two.

  • Multiplier: the payout for a win, up to 9,900×;
  • Roll Over or Roll Under: the target number and the winning side;
  • Win Chance: the share of the 0–100 range that wins.

Win Chance times Multiplier always equals 99. That product is the 99.00% RTP.

Roll Over targets, chance and payout

A lower win chance means a higher multiplier. The rows below use Roll Over targets.

At the top of the range a 0.01% win chance pays 9,900×. Roll Under works the same way from the other side: Roll Under 49.50 also gives a 49.50% chance.

Enter a multiplier to see the win chance Dice uses at 99% RTP. The same chance applies to Roll Over and Roll Under.

Win chance at 99% RTP—Loss chance—

Win chance = 99 ÷ target multiplier, in per cent. At 2.00× that gives 49.50%, the figure the game panel shows.

The arithmetic is the same as in Limbo, where the target multiplier is typed in directly.

Auto betting in Dice

The Auto tab runs a series of rolls on fixed rules. Each rule is set once before the series starts.

  • bet amount for every roll;
  • number of bets in the series;
  • on win: increase the bet by a percentage or reset it;
  • on loss: increase the bet by a percentage or reset it;
  • Stop on Profit: ends the series at a profit target;
  • Stop on Loss: ends the series at a loss limit.

18+Dice sits in the Stake Originals tab of the casino lobby. 18+ only.

RTP, house edge and max multiplier

Dice returns 99.00% over the long run, so the house edge is 1.00%. The edge is the same on every target and side.

Primedice, another Original, uses the same Roll Over, Multiplier and Win Chance fields with 99.00% RTP.

Is Stake Dice provably fair

Dice combines a random number generator with provably fair seeds. Each roll can be rechecked after the server seed is revealed.

  • the Fairness button under the game lists the seeds;
  • the server seed hash is fixed before the roll;
  • a third-party verifier can recalculate the result.

The method is laid out in the provably fair guide, and all 31 titles are in the in-house games list.

Betting systems and the house edge

Martingale, Paroli, D'Alembert and Delayed Martingale change bet sizes, not the odds. The 1.00% edge stays on every roll.

  • doubling after a loss raises the size of the next bet, not the chance of a win;
  • a streak of losses does not make a win more likely;
  • Stop on Loss caps an Auto series at a set amount.
